Taking a Look Back at the Inauguration of JFK

As I was browsing around today reading news articles and watching videos of the inauguration of Barack Obama, I stumbled upon this video of the inauguration speech of John F. Kennedy.  I think it’s going to be tough for Barack Obama to compete with this speech.  I get chills listening to it and it’s a reminder of how lucky we are to have had John F. Kennedy as our president.  Honest, loyal, hard-working and fair are just a few of the words that come to mind each time I listen to him speek.  I feel the same way about Barack Obama when I listen him bring together crowds by the hundreds of thousands.

Every generation we’re lucky enough to have elected a president that is really capable of true change in this country.  We always go through long spells of presidents that just do their job… but don’t really bring out any significant change or progress and that’s kind of how I feel about the last 30 years of presidents.  That is why I am so optimistic about Barack Obama as president.   I love reading comments on the Internet about how Barack is all talk and no substance.  Yes, he is a skilled orator.  But, I think one of the biggest problems with this beautiful and free coutry we live in is that we’re divided in so many ways.  Barack Obama has the proven ability to break down those barriers and accomplish the difficult tasks that lie ahead us both domestic and abroad.

Take a look at the inauguration of John F. Kennedy.  I would imagine Barack Obama’s speech will go down in history and send the same sort of shockwave of optimism across the country and around the world.  Real Change is finally here.
