You may or may not have heard, but Google is releasing a new platform for communication.  It’s called Google Wave and it made quite the impression on the developer community at the Google I/O Conference in May 2009.

So what is Google Wave?

It’s basically a modern way to use email and instant messaging .. but that’s really just the tip of the iceberg.  Google Wave allows you to have conversations in real time and add images, maps, attachments, video and other media right within the live conversation.  Pretty cool, eh?  Check out the video below from the Google I/O Conference back in May for a more detailed explanation of what Google Wave is capable of doing.

Now that you have spent the past hour and half watching the video above you should have a good idea of what Google Wave is and why it was built.  Times are changing and so is our technology… quickly.  Email as it stands today is 40 year old technology.  It’s about time someone noticed this and took a new approach at the way we communicate online.
